Celtic striker Callum Osmand has made a major impact for Celtic in the few games that he has managed to play in this season, including decisive goals against the Rangers to get Celtic into a Cup Final and more importantly against Hearts to rubber-stamp the title for Celtic at the weekend…

‘I’ve got no words. It feels like my life is like a movie’

“I’ve got no words. It feels like my life is like a movie,” Callum Osmand told Celtic TV after his sensational introduction by Martin O’Neill changed the destination of the Scottish Premiership title in the closing stages of the final game of the season for both contenders, Celtic and Hearts.

The game was all square at 1-1 and Hearts with their one point lead going into this title decider just had to keep Celtic out to become Scottish Champions for the first time since 1960.

Martin O’Neill then made the decisive change, bringing on Callum Osmand, who has been on the sidelines with a bad hamstring injury for six months, taking off centre-half Auston Trusty and going 3-5-2, a throw back to the system that the legendary Celtic manager used first time around at the club over two decades ago.

    Marcelo Saracchi deserves huge credit

Osmand combined with fellow late substitute Marcelo Saracchi with the Uruguayan international left-back threading through a clever ball into the path of the former West Ham striker who hit the bye-line before crossing for Daizen Maeda to give Celtic the lead and with it to go top of the table – as things stood at that point – for the first time since last September.

Sensational play from Saracchi and Osmand to set up Daizen’s decisive goal

That was sensational from Osmand, and Saracchi and also Martin O’Neill. But Osmand wasn’t done yet. In the last play of the game Callum McGregor conceded a free-kick midway inside the Celtic half. The Hearts keeper went up chasing an equalising goal that would have given Hearts the title but McGregor got to the cross and Celtic advanced with three player, Kelechi Iheanacho, James Forrest and Callum Osmand on the unguarded Hearts goal.

The Celtic captain put the ball into Osmand’s path which he collected just inside the Celtic half and run into the penalty area before finding the back of the empty goal with a careful pass. It was an iconic moment at Celtic Park that will be the stuff of legend in decades to come.

The euphoria spilled over with a pitch invasion

The euphoria spilled over with a pitch invasion which is being used to detract from the Celtic achievement by those who despise us. Park that and let them get it out their systems but they can’t get away from the harsh reality that Celtic are Champions yet again

“This is unbelievable and I don’t think there’s a better club in the world,” Callum Osmand added.
“I had six months and I wasn’t able to give anything and it was out of my hands, and it was really tough, but the lads have been unbelievable. I’ve just put the cherry on the cake. I’m so happy.

“I thought there was a keeper in goal’

“To be honest, I thought there was a keeper in goal and I was just running, thinking, I could make a mess this up, but as soon as I saw there was no keeper my eyes lit up and I just started smiling. It was amazing.

“I love this club so much. I’ve only been here a year – I wanted to give so much more this year but you can’t and it was out of my control, but I know what I can bring to the team and I was ready.

“I’ve worked hard and it wasn’t a fun six months, but this just makes it all worth it and the fans are just at another level. They’re the best in the world.” Callum Osmand said. He’ll be buzzing for Hampden and don’t rule out him making an impact there too.
