Celtic issued a statement yesterday evening addressing the pitch invasion that occurred after Callum Osmand’s goal gave Celtic a unassailable 3-1 lead in the title shoot-out against Hearts on Saturday afternoon at Celtic Park…

While it has been officially confirmed by the SPFL that match referee Don Robertson had blown the final whistle it could easily have gone a different way with the match NOT finishing and those supporters could have taken Celtic’s title victory away from us. It was certainly a close call.
With tensions high and the disappointment off the scale for the Hearts players and officials they left Celtic Park quickly without the team showering and getting out of their match day kits. It seems that allegations of any violent behaviour from Celtic supporters who ran onto the pitch to celebrate was thankfully wide of the mark.

There are likely to be repercussions for Celtic and indeed many of the supporters themselves could find their season tickets could be threatened. It was entirely unnecessary and the vast majority of the Celtic support made their feeling clear by booing the pitch invaders.

The Celtic support in the five post split matches has been magnificent at Celtic Park and at both Easter Road and Fir Park as Celtic collected the five victories necessary to win the league in the most dramatic of circumstances. There is no excuse at all for what happened on Saturday after Callum Osmand’s magical moment.

Here’s last night’s statement from the club.
Celtic Football Club statement
‘Everyone at the Club congratulates Martin, our players and all our staff on delivering the club’s 56th Scottish league title and a thrilling climax to the season backed by a magnificent support.
We thank Celtic fans for everything they have done to help the team over the line.
The Club regrets that our victory over Hearts was followed by a number of individuals entering the field of play.
We again emphasise that there is no justification for this behaviour which, for the vast majority of Celtic supporters, only detracts from the joy of such occasions.
Celtic will co-operate fully with any investigation and with the SPFL in their own processes.
We also apologise to Hearts for the situation encountered by their players and staff at the conclusion of the game, and for the fact that these events prevented them from saluting their own supporters at the end of an enthralling campaign, to which they have contributed so much.’

Here’s just some reaction to the club’s statement from Celtic supporters, and ignoring anything said by the fans of the third placed finishers in the Scottish Premiership…

“Sick of the minority of fans running on the pitch & thinking it’s ok & even trying to justify it. It’s wrong & needs to stop ! Heavy fine incoming & just imagine if that was a European game. Idiotic behaviour from them!” Heather.
“Fans were hit and struck by Hearts players. The footage is there. Also sectarian words directed at the support. A fans phone stamped on and smashed. You all seen the behaviour of McInnes. His player Shankland lost the plot, tried it with Saracchi and Maeda. Then lashed out at our fans! Fans should not have been on the pitch. You all know how Neil Lennon was treated at Tynecastle and NOTHING was done about that,” Rhys McCole
“Happy enough with this. We can acknowledge entering the field of play was unacceptable without subscribing to this narrative of violence and intimidation our toxic media is trying to spin,” jdxhoop.
“Celtic stop pandering to the baying mob. The situation was not ideal but a release of tension, emotion, joy. Hearts were goaded, not assaulted; they left because they were devastated, not re safety or our fans. Shankland pushes, another Hearts player stamps on a supporter phone.” imanoob.

as i said dando we dont know all the facts dando it will all come out in the wash as the saying goes appologise for some spelling mistake
hail hail
I dont know all the facts probably never will unfortunately. We have alot of Celtic supporters who let there emotion rule their heads and don’t realise what the consequences are and afterwards if they run onto the field fine but they
showed run off immediately after and should not stop the match or else it could become like England and become a criminal offence and we don’t want that. Hail hail
Can totally understand the outpour of emotions shown from our supporters, within such a challenging season, that we had to endure.
But entering the field of play is still wrong, and becoming an unwanted feature recently, where the authorities are going to come down hard upon ourselves from now on imo?
Believe that point deductions will be introduced, and even possible exclusion from cup competitions, if the likes are going to remain in place, within our support imo?
Hopefully it never comes to be applied, but potentially warnings will have to be issued. More relieved that no footage of mini hun players actually getting assaulted, but could have happened with some of the hearts contingent involved, especially with there such dislikes of ourselves?
But they will always get the sympathy vote, when it will be reported as our supporters shouldn’t have been on the field of play in the first instance.
Therefore, our own supporters need to become more aware of the consequences that we could face, if the likes were to continue imo?
Yep all selfish daft wee fannies who ran onto the pitch and wasted the ending to what has been a terrible season
BUT
look at the day the drama ,the last minute and Celtic are charging up the park to an empty goal ,it was like listening and watching 61,000 folks winner running in the grand national who all new the field was clear and they were over the last fence
The young daft twats got on the field only because the Celtic da’s are carrying to much weight
