Callum Osmand will prove to be a valuable asset to Celtic in the seasons ahead…
Callum Osmand has had a topsy turvy start to his Celtic career. Signed from Fulham on a free transfer last summer, the highly regarded striker found game time hard to come by under Brendan Rodgers who didn’t seem to fancy him at all.
Shaun Maloney thought Martin O’Neill would love Callum Osmand
Things took a turn for the better for Jersey born player after the departure of Brendan, when interim manager Martin O’Neill involved him more in the squad, and he showed in flashes that he’s very much a player with great potential. It was Shaun Maloney who told Martin that Osmand was a player he thought that manager would love and how right he proved to be.

Injury setback for Osmand against Midtjylland
Callum of course scored his first goal for Celtic in the 3-1 win over the Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup semi final last November, endearing himself to the Celtic supporters, but just as his career in the Hoops was kicking off he was unfortunately struck down by a injury hamstring tear in the Europa League match against Midtjylland in the Danish town of Herning.
That was the first major injury Osmand had suffered and it ended up costing him five months of his first Celtic campaign.
Osmand returned as a substitute against Hearts in title decider
The 20 year old has fought back to full fitness, and was included in Martin O’Neill’s squad for the first time in five months as he was named on the bench against Hearts in the much anticipated and pressure filled must win clash with Hearts at Celtic Park on Saturday.

He then endeared himself even further in the eyes of the Celtic supporters when he scored a dramatic last gasp goal, a goal that literally clinched the title. A goal that generated amazing scenes of jubilation that will forever be remembered by everyone connected with the club for the rest of our lives.
Osmand scored an iconic goal that Celtic supporters will talk about for decades to come
That iconic goal was the icing on the cake so we have to mention the most important assist of the season for Celtic as he set up Daizen Maeda score the goal that put Celtic ahead in the match and also in the title race on the 86th minute. That time was incredible as Celtic supporters had been remembering the Spirit of 86 – the last time Celtic denied Hearts of a title they’ve not won since 1960.

So it’s not just his eye for goal that makes Callum Omand a Celtic stand out, it’s his all round game, and he gives us an extra fresh outlet in the final third, as we witnessed on Saturday and back in November at Hampden against the latest Ibrox club.
In his fleeting appearances, Callum has shown in glimpses just why he was highly regarded down south. He’s only just learning his craft, but he has the potential to be a superb player and another year working with Martin O’Neill will work wonders for his game.
Next season he could become a major player for the Scottish Champions
We’re lucky to have a player such as Callum Osmand on our books, and hopefully next season he will start to shine on a regular basis in the green and white hoops.
Callum spoke to the media earlier this week and you can watch his mainstream media conference below. In a week where the mainstream media has been attacking Celtic right, left and centre it’s been the Celtic Fan Media who have fought back to defend the club. Yet we remain banned.
Callum Osmand – a recap on his journey to Celtic
Callum Osmand arrived at Celtic as Brendan Rodgers’ fourth addition of the 2025/26 summer window, with the young striker signing on a four-year deal.
Osmand joined with a reputation from his time south of the border, where he came through the Academy set up at English Premier League side, Fulham. His time at Craven Cottage began as a 12-year-old, kick-starting a seven-year spell within the Academy.
Having signed his first professional deal in 2023, Osmand had a standout season for Fulham’s under-21s side last campaign, scoring 18 goals and also earning himself a nomination for Premier League 2 Player of the Season.
