Osmand arrived at Celtic from Fulham last summer under Brendan Rodgers but struggled to force his way into the senior side during the opening months of the campaign.

His fortunes changed following Rodgers’ departure, with the 20-year-old netting his first professional goal in the win over the Ibrox club at Hampden.

Now firmly involved again during O’Neill’s second spell in charge, the striker added another key moment to his breakthrough season by scoring Celtic’s third goal in last week’s title-clinching victory over Hearts.

Speaking about the manager’s influence, Osmand said via Celtic’s official YouTube channel: “Martin is so funny. You probably see it in his interviews, but in meetings he’s amazing.

“He knows how to calm us down and get us ready for games. He knows when to really get onto us and when to lift the mood. He knows what he’s doing, he’s one of the best at his job, and he’s amazing.”

The youngster also paid tribute to O’Neill’s impact since returning to the dugout, crediting him with transforming the club’s season.

“Ultimately, that’s not up to me; that’s in Martin’s hands,” Osmand said when asked about the manager’s future. “He’s been amazing for us. You can’t understate what he’s done for the club; he’s pulled us out, saved us, and won us the title. It’s in his hands. He’s fantastic, and it’s up to him.”

Osmand then joked that O’Neill’s achievements merit a permanent tribute outside Celtic Park. “One hundred per cent [he deserves a statue]. I’ll be there, I’ll build it myself. I’ll be carving that at home. He’s fantastic.”
