Title-hero Callum Osmand has reflected on taking up the opportunity to sign for Celtic last summer.

Osmand admits joining Celtic from Fulham last summer was an opportunity he simply could not ignore, despite attracting interest from a number of clubs before making the move to Glasgow.

The Jersey-born forward signed a four-year contract after leaving the English Premier League side and believes the scale of the club made the decision an easy one in the end.

“I think some people were surprised that I managed to actually get up to Celtic,” Osmand said via The Herald. “I think the main thing was people were just telling me about the weather!

“They weren’t surprised that I decided to come here because it’s obviously a great club, and I couldn’t really turn down that offer when it came in.

“There was obviously decisions to be made and I was talking to multiple clubs and sort of assessing what was best for me. But like I said, when Celtic comes in, it’s hard to say no to that.”

Osmand’s first season in Scotland has already brought significant highs and setbacks. After waiting until October to make his senior debut under Martin O’Neill, the striker announced himself with a goal against the Ibrox club in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final only days later.

However, his momentum was halted when he suffered a serious hamstring injury during Celtic’s trip to Midtjylland in the Europa League, forcing him off on a stretcher and sidelining him for months.

His recent substitute appearance in the title-clinching win marked his first involvement since that night in Denmark, and there is growing belief among supporters and coaching staff that the 20-year-old has a bright future at the Hoops.

“The pressure is a privilege because it shows that people are expecting something from me. I’m quite happy with all the pressure. I feel like it makes me need to perform.

“Playing for this club, you have to grab it or otherwise you’ll fall behind. So you either have to come into it knowing what you want, or otherwise it’s really tough.”
