Benjamin Nygren has hailed the role of the Celtic support in the Hoops’ recent resurgence, as the midfielder urged his teammates to maintain their focus heading into a pivotal week in the Premiership title race.

Celtic’s 3-1 victory over the Ibrox club sparked jubilant celebrations at full-time on Sunday, but according to Benjamin Nygren, the atmosphere inside Celtic Park had been electric long before the game even began.

The midfielder praised the home support for creating an intimidating environment that helped drive Martin O’Neill’s side to another crucial win in the title race.

“The atmosphere was absolutely amazing,” Nygren said via The Herald.

“I would guess that for an opponent to come to Celtic Park when the atmosphere is like that, it must be very, very hard. The fans and everyone are so important. It gives that extra boost to the whole team for sure.”

Nygren believes the intensity generated by a packed Celtic Park can have a major psychological effect on visiting teams, especially with Hearts coming to Celtic Park.

“They mean so much,” he added. “When you’re at the pitch, you really feel it. I can imagine that for the opponents, it’s a lot more difficult when you feel 60,000 people are at you.”

Celtic’s recent resurgence has been built around a strict focus on taking each fixture as it comes — an approach the squad has maintained throughout their six-match winning run.

That mindset remains unchanged ahead of tonight’s trip to Fir Park, where victory would set up a potentially decisive final-day showdown against Hearts.

“To be honest, I haven’t thought too much about that game yet,” Nygren said. “You still have to think game by game. So much can change.

“The last game we had to win, so now we have to win the next game as well, and the last game. That’s how you need to think.”

Kick-off at Fir Park this evening is scheduled for 8pm and WILL be shown on Sky Sports.
