Celtic’s dramatic late victory over Motherwell has sparked a strongly-worded response from the Foundation of Hearts ahead of Saturday’s decisive Premiership showdown at Celtic Park….

The supporters’ group – which holds a controlling interest in Hearts – released a statement following the controversial penalty decision that helped Celtic secure all three points in stoppage time at Fir Park on Wednesday night.
Hearts had briefly moved into a commanding position in the title race after defeating Falkirk 3-0, only for Kelechi Iheanacho’s late intervention to swing momentum back in Celtic’s favour before the final weekend.
‘A remarkable campaign’
While congratulating Derek McInnes and his squad on what has been described as a “remarkable campaign”, the Foundation voiced serious concerns over officiating and VAR decisions in recent fixtures.
‘Undeniable concern surrounding several refereeing and VAR calls’
In a statement, the organisation said: “Everyone connected with the Foundation of Hearts wishes to commend the players and coaching staff for their exceptional efforts throughout an unforgettable season.
“We encourage all supporters to back the team fully as they head into the final match of the league campaign.
“However, there is undeniable concern surrounding several refereeing and VAR calls over the past two rounds of matches, decisions which have materially influenced outcomes involving Hearts and other clubs.
“The timing of these incidents, coming at such a pivotal point in the season, only heightens the frustration felt by many supporters.
“We are aware the club has already sought further explanation from the relevant football authorities regarding a number of recent decisions.
“At a time when Scottish football is under increasing attention both domestically and abroad, maintaining trust in officiating standards is essential.
“We therefore hope the officials overseeing Saturday’s fixture apply the utmost consistency and professionalism, ensuring the contest is determined fairly by the players on the field.”

Celtic now know victory over Hearts on the final day would secure another Scottish Premiership title after Iheanacho’s dramatic winner dramatically reshaped the title picture.
