Celtic manager Martin O’Neill earlier today was named as the Scottish Premiership Manager of the Month for April after guiding the Hoops through the month unbeaten…
His Celtic team secured league victories over Dundee and St Mirren before the split, before defeating Falkirk last weekend in the first post-split league watch. And of course he guided Celtic past St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren which ended in a 6-2 extra time victory to set up a final against Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline.

‘This is for work by the players and the coaches’
“Even at 74 years of age, it’s still actually nice to get it,” Martin O’Neill told Celtic TV, as reported by the official club website. “But this is for work by the players and the coaches, and I have seriously played a little part in the proceedings – but not as much as I should be in getting this award.”

‘It’s just nice to still be in the hunt at this stage’
“Coming back from the international break and we had just lost at Tannadice against Dundee United, then you just have to win the games coming back. So reset, or mindset or whatever it was, we got the late goal at Dundee, and we’ve gone on from then,” the Celtic manager said.
“It’s great, it’s just nice to still be in the hunt at this stage. At this minute we are on a decent run, we’re getting results at this moment, and the team are just gelling.”
The run of good results and the tightness of the title race has combined to see the Celtic supporters setting aside their disputes with the club to unity behind Martin and his team as they target a double.
Speaking about the brilliant welcome the team got on the Celtic Way at the weekend when the team buses arrived at Paradise ahead of the 3-1 over Falkirk, O’Neill said:

‘The support we got was magnificent’

“Even the welcome we got when the bus pulled in an hour before kick-off, that was terrific. That’s not been around for some time. But the support we got was magnificent, absolutely magnificent and they stayed with us as well, too.
“There were moments when we were a bit cranky and they could have got a bit upset with things, but they stayed with us. We played strongly in many aspects, there are lots of things we can still improve on, but it was great.

“It was lovely to get that feeling at Celtic Park. It took me back years, and years and years.”
