Two sides to every story. And this one will tell you that the Rangers are to fully blame…

I think it’s fair comment to note that the Scottish mainstream media have never been our friends, and have never hidden their prejudices against our club. Indeed, for generations they have held a very strong bond with whatever club happens to call Ibrox stadium their home.

The blue half of Glasgow will remarkably tell you it’s the opposite, but it’s really not, indeed all it takes is a wee bit of research to get an understanding as to which side of Glasgow divide enjoys a charmed life among our hacks, and it’s certainly not Celtic.

Laptop Loyal predictably back the Rangers

So it certainly came as no surprise when these so called ‘impartial’ sports writers, pundits and commentators decided to have a pop at Celtic in regards to the decision that will see no away supporters in attendance at Celtic Park come derby day on the 10th of May IF the Rangers plan to give tickets to the Union Bears.

Even more concerning is that they have completely twisted the narrative by leaving out one of the most important details of the whole story, in a bid to further turn the heat up on Celtic, when all the club is doing is looking out for the safety  of their own staff and supporters.

Outlets backing Rangers are the ones invited to Celtic media conferences

All mainstream outlets are running with the exclusive that Celtic have ‘banned’ the Rangers supporters from attending what could be an ever so vial game in the title race. Those are the same outlets that are allowed to attend Celtic media conferences while the Celtic Fan Media remains banned by the Celtic Board.

Whilst it might seem that’s what Celtic are doing, that’s not what is happening in this scenario, and a little bit of research and understanding when it comes to the facts would lay bare the true extent of the matter, and that would be, if anyone is to blame for the lock out, It’s the Rangers themselves.

Celtic offered the Ibrox club a generous allocation, on the condition that the thuggish element otherwise known as the Union Bears wouldn’t be allowed to purchase any briefs.

Violent scenes that were beamed throughout the world

All understandable due to the unruly scenes that were witnessed in aftermath of the dramatic Scottish Cup quarter final penalty shootout at Ibrox last month. Violent scenes that were beamed throughout the world, and the only group carrying out this despicable behaviour was the Union Bears.

Why would we want them present when they are a clear threat to our staff and supporters? If a group of unruly individuals threatened and even committed violence against any of our family at a party, would you invite them to the next one at yours?

No of course you wouldn’t, no sane person would. Maybe the SMSM should think again before having a pop at Celtic for their correct stance on the situation.

    The Rangers precedent

Writing over on The Celtic Star yesterday I pointed out that in 2024 the Rangers banned ALL Celtic supporters from attending a Women’s match at Ibrox because they had received intelligence that the Green Brigade were planning to attend the match.

At the time The Celtic Star reported that this was NOT the case, but nevertheless around 600 Celtic supporters who follow the women’s team and had purchased tickets to go to this game were banned by Rangers.

That is the precedent, created from Ibrox for their benefit and that is something that Celtic have been reminded of yesterday by The Celtic Star Editor.

    ‘Football Without Fans Is Nothing’

Caitlin Hayes after the final whistle in that match displayed a protest she was wearing under her Celtic jersey. It quoted Jock Stein saying ‘Football Without Fans Is Nothing’.

The SPFL will now determine the outcome at their appeals committee and the best solution is to instruct Celtic to give the Rangers the 2100 tickets for Celtic Park on the condition that the Union Bears are not to be given tickets and will be refused entry if they try to gain access.

We the latest Ibrox club can’t stand up to these hooligans is beyond comprehension.  We await the findings from the SFA’s investigation into the events that occurred at Ibrox at the Scottish Cup quarter-final.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Shorts colleagues.
