Meanwhile Callum McGregor, the Celtic captain has been talking about how the off-field issues that have been practically ever-present this season is now clearly having a negative impact on the players. That is a real concern.
“I think it’s having an impact on the whole club, if I’m honest,” Callum McGregor
“I think it’s having an impact on the whole club, if I’m honest,” Calmac said. “So, as players, we have to try and salvage what is there, harness it, get the most out of it and get the most out of each other.
“And the players, it’s their life as well. They’re trying ever so hard, they’re working ever so hard. I said to them before the game, we have to give everyone something to get off their chairs about. So I said it at the start of the season, performances and wins will bring harmony back. And that’s the job of the players. Obviously everything else we can’t control.
“But the bit that we can control is trying as hard as you can, trying to play good football and trying to win football matches. And that’s been the message from me to the players the whole season. And I believe if we do that, and we do enough of it, then the harmony will come back,” Callum McGregor said.
The Celtic skipper added: “I mean, they’re all sweet, but I think we’ve probably had more challenges than normal. A lot of different factors, external noise, etc. So yeah, if you can come and claw this one back, then I think it would be right up there.”
Time to get the Green Brigade back, Mr Wilson
The crucial matter at hand is the get the return of the Green Brigade over the line, park all protests, boycotts and anti-board chants and instead get 100% focused on winning this league and the Scottish Cup.
We are in action in Stuttgart on Thursday night and expect a squad based side for this dead rubber after the 4-1 defeat at Celtic Park in the first leg of the Europa League play-off last Thursday night. The travelling Celtic support are all booked up and will be making their way to Germany over the next day or so to give the Bhoys their backing.
Then it’s a double header at Ibrox and the Celtic sections at both matches will be packed and the team will be supported that’s for sure. It’s after that that’s the concern and Brian Wilson must do all he can to have the Green Brigade in situ over in the North Curve for our next game at Celtic Park which is against Motherwell on Saturday 14 March.
