Celtic winger Luis Palma revealed that being substituted at half-time during Honduras’ heavy defeat to Canada marked the toughest experience of his football career so far…

After a loan spell with Greek champions Olympiacos during the second half of the season, the 25-year-old is set to return to Celtic for pre-season this summer, with the Greek side choosing not to trigger the £3.3 million option to sign him permanently.
Luis Palma’s difficult season continued
His difficult season continued as he managed only three league starts for Olympiacos, before enduring further disappointment on international duty when he was taken off at half-time during Honduras’ horrendous 6-0 loss to Canada in a CONCACAF Gold Cup clash in Vancouver.
Palma acknowledged the night had been a disastrous night for him personally. Speaking in The Herald, Palma said: “It’s very sad. It’s one of my lowest moments in my career.”

“We have to accept we are going through a very difficult time at the moment. But we all know that was nowhere near acceptable. Now we have to use this as a learning experience for the rest of the tournament. The whole team is devastated by this setback.”
“This defeat hurts us all a lot”
“Only hard work will help us. We have to turn over a new page. We didn’t have a clear idea of what we wanted to play, and it showed. This defeat hurts us all a lot.”
Palma looks as if he is heading for the exit door at Celtic. Ultimately, Brendan Rodgers has given him ample opportunities to impress and perform but the Honduran has failed to take any of the chances he has been given.

Whether the Hoops can recoup some of the £3.5 million they spent to bring Palma to the club two years ago remains to be seen.
Like several other players who were loaned out during the second half of last season [Stephen Welsh, Marco Tilio and Gustaf Lagerbielke] it is best for all parties that they find a new club.
The manager has aspirations of making progress in the Champions League and with that you need a quality squad. Palma does not add any depth to an already competitive forward line.
