Celtic’s transfer roundup: attackers prioritised for Brendan’s side

Celtic return to training at Lennoxtown in two weeks but the preparations for the new season are well underway. While the players relax and recover after a gruelling season, Celtic’s recruitment staff are hard at work looking to put into place the manager’s plans for the new season.

Kieran Tierney has already sealed a sensational return to the club but he won’t be the last arrival at the club.

Here are a few transfer stories to keep an eye on over the coming days…

Celtic are close to agreeing a deal to sign Swedish Internationalist Benjamin Nygren from Nordsjælland. The clubs have been in discussions and Celtic are confident that a deal will be forthcoming, a reported fee of £2m for the creative midfielder.

The Scottish Champions are also linked with a move to sign J-League defender Hayato Inamura. Celtic are in the market for a fullback to act as backup for Kieran Tierney with Greg Taylor nearing the exit.

Taylor appears to be weighing up his future after the Scottish player cooled his interest on a move to PAOK. Danish side Copenhagen offered Taylor a route to Champions League football as well as a reunion with Moi Elyounoussi. Celtic remain in contention for the player but the silence suggests that he will move on at the end of the month.

Ross Doohan is expected to return to the club to replace Scott Bain in one of football’s best gigs – the third goalkeeper. The goalkeeper made his Scotland debut against Liechtenstein but has reportedly agreed a pre-contract with Celtic.
