Celtic have turned down a £500,000 offer from Bolton Wanderers for striker Johnny Kenny, making it clear they value the 21-year-old at around £1 million. Brendan Rodgers brought the player into his squad during the second half of last season but looks as if he is willing to part ways with his countryman.
Kenny, who impressed during a loan spell at Shamrock Rovers with 20 goals, recently returned to Celtic and found the net against Aberdeen at the tail end of last season. Despite his progress, he faces stiff competition for game time at Parkhead with Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah ahead of him.
Celtic are open to letting Kenny leave permanently but are unwilling to negotiate unless their £1 million valuation is met. The club sees the young Irish forward as a valuable asset and won’t let him go for less than they believe he’s worth. Bolton are expected to return with an improved offer, but unless they meet Celtic’s demands, a deal remains unlikely at this stage.
