Former Celtic forward Kyogo is reportedly being lined up for a shock summer transfer to Birmingham City, according to a report in his homeland…

The 30 year-old departed for Rennes in a significant £10 million move in January, but things quickly went downhill as he struggled for game time and slipped down the pecking order at the Ligue 1 club.
Kyogo is now expected to head to Birmingham City
According to Japanese outlet Sponichi Annex, Kyogo is now expected to head to England’s Championship, where he would reunite with ex-Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies and link up with his former Hoops teammate Tomoki Iwata.

The report notes that while multiple European sides have shown interest in Kyogo, Birmingham City remain the most eager suitors as they push for promotion back to the Premier League.
Kyogo is also said to be open to the move
Kyogo is also said to be open to the move, viewing the potential switch to the English club in a positive light. With the World Cup on the horizon next year, he will be keen to regain regular playing time.
Earning a spot in Japan’s World Cup squad and catching the attention of Hajime Moriyasu means Kyogo must be playing games, and a switch to Birmingham could provide the opportunity he needs.
Birmingham cruised to the League One title last season, breaking all sorts of English football league records in the process. Davies and his side are now aiming to make a strong impact in the Championship as they continue their push for a return to the top flight.

Kyogo thrived at Celtic following his arrival in Glasgow in 2021
Kyogo thrived at Celtic following his arrival in Glasgow in 2021 under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou. During his illustrious time with the Scottish champions, he scored 85 goals across 165 appearances.

Napoli have made a bid for Matt O’Riley
Meanwhile, Kyogo’s former Celtic teammate Matt O’Riley could also be on the move. Serie A champions Napoli have made a £25.6 million bid to sign the Danish midfielder.
Celtic have a 10% sell-on clause inserted into the £30 million deal they negotiated with the Seagulls last summer. Therefore, more cash may be coming the Hoops’ way over the next coming weeks.
Birmingham City have expressed an interest in Rennes striker Kyogo Furuhashi.
