Promising young Celtic and Scotland u21 defender Matthew Anderson has agreed to join Belgian second tier side KV Kortrijk on a permanent basis…

The young left back who was part of Brendan Rodgers squad that toured the USA last summer has spent the last year and a half at Austrian side Wacker, a side whom Celtic have significant ties with.

Matthew Anderson has impressed in Austria

Matthew has impressed in the Austrian second tier and there were hopes he could challenge for place in the first team squad especially with Greg Taylor leaving, but has decided to take the plunge and pursue his career in Belgium as he penned a three year deal with the Flanders based side.

It appears that Matthew wasn’t in Brendan’s long term plans and the club have sanctioned the 21 year olds move to the Belgian side for a relatively low fee although there is believed to be a significant sell on clause inserted in the deal.

It’s unfortunate that Matthew Anderson doesn’t have a future at the club, but we wish him all the best in his future career.

Meanwhile Celtic today completed the signing of Sweden international attacker Benjamin Nygren from Danish side FC Nordsjælland for a fee of just €1.5m, a slightly lower fee than expected with this price being mentioned today by Fabrizio Romano.

Benjamin certainly looks impressed by the dressing room at Celtic Park, judging by his reaction in the video below.

Nygren joins KT and Ross Doohan in the Celtic squad for the new season

Benjamin Nygren joins Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan as the three additions to Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic squad for the new season, with the first two almost certain to be first picks. Hopefully there will be more to come in the coming weeks.

    Fingers crossed.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Shorts colleagues.
