Celtic defender Auston Trusty has been reflecting on his first season at Celtic and the drive for another Treble…

Auston Trusty’s debut season in Celtic colours is shaping up to be a memorable one. The USMNT international has transitioned from Sheffield United, where he endured the disappointment of Premier League relegation, to a Celtic side where not only winning is expected but doing so in style.
As the campaign nears its conclusion, Trusty finds himself on the brink of a historic domestic Treble, with the Premiership title all but secured. At the heart of Celtic’s relentless pursuit of success is club captain Callum McGregor, a player Trusty sees as the team’s driving force both on and off the pitch.
McGregor’s Unmatched Recovery Approach Impresses Trusty
Fans are well aware of McGregor’s influence on the field—his ability to dictate play, take the ball in any situation, and orchestrate the game. However, what happens behind the scenes is equally impressive, as Trusty revealed.

In an era where elite footballers rely on top-tier recovery methods, Trusty explained how McGregor takes a minimalistic approach and yet remains one of the most consistent performers.
“Recovery-wise, everyone has their own ways to recover,” Trusty told Celtic TV. “Some guys do very minimal. Some guys do a lot. I love to get a massage. I am always on the massage table. I am doing a hot bath, cold bath—kind of all the bits and bobs I can do and get my hands on.
“But some guys may not need a lot. Callum (McGregor) is really amazing. I don’t really see him on the table. He does his cold bath, hot tub, and then he is out. But every single game he is on it. Every single day. It’s pretty amazing what he does.”
Trusty Praises Celtic’s Relentless Winning Mentality
Celtic’s recent defeat to Rangers before the international break raised concerns, as familiar struggles in the Glasgow derby resurfaced. However, with another showdown at Ibrox on the horizon after the split, the team’s response will be closely watched.

Despite their dominant league position and strong Treble pursuit, Trusty believes Celtic’s mindset remains unwavering, a quality he is embracing in his first year at the club.
“It’s pretty amazing and, being an outsider, then seeing the mindset, it’s very easy for the guys to switch off,” he said.
“You obviously want to have zero losses, but to only have two is a real testament to the team, the whole organisation, and the mindset of how you approach things. It’s very easy to just let off and do your thing. But the team is really, really good too.
“You want to have the same consistency—win by a lot of goals and play really well every game.”
With the league title within reach and cup competitions still in their grasp, Trusty and his teammates will be aiming to finish the season in style, continuing the winning culture that has defined Celtic for generations.
