Alistair Johnston is naturally attracting the attention of other clubs, but he’s much better than the likes of Fulham and Ipswich…

Alistair Johnston is the latest Celtic player to be interesting other clubs, and that’s only natural as he’s a superb player who’s proven his worth in the biggest stage at both club and international level.
Alistair is the prefect modern day full back, and he’s also a born leader so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that other clubs are keeping tabs on him.
Fulham and Ipswich interested in Alistair Johnston
The clubs said to be interested in the Canadian are Fulham and Ipswich, and with no disrespect to either club, Alistair should be aiming higher if he has any ambition of furthering himself in the game.
AJ will be 27 later this year, and his next move will probably be his last big one, so he’s got to choose it wisely, and not just for off the field factors.

They may be able to offer a higher salary and play in a much better environment, but they can’t offer what Celtic currently offers him, and that is getting to play in front of 60,000 supporters ever other week, competing for trophies and playing in the champions league.
Prestige of playing for Celtic
The prestige of playing for Celtic and being successful on a regular basis is what a player of Alistair’s ability deserves. Not fighting for a European place or avoiding relegation in England, that’s for sure.
Yes we are realistic enough to know every player has a value and they will go if that price is right, but for players like Alistair the ambition should be moving on to a club similar in stature to Celtic, or even bigger and more prestigious. It’s what his talent deserves.
