Kyogo’s transfer and Daizen’s red card weakens Celtic for Villa Park

Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t sanction Kyogo’s  move to Rennes unless he had something up his sleeve…

It’s been reported that Kyogo is in France at the moment and will be doing his medical before signing for the French side.

Late last night we discovered that Kyogo Furuhashi’s time at the club looks like coming to an end with a move to Rennes looking more likely after it was reported by more than a few reliable sources.

Kyogo has played his last game for Celtic

Apparently a deal believed to worth €12 million is close to completion and Kyogo very much indeed looks to have played his last game for the club.

It does seem a bit odd that we are selling our best striker at such a vital stage of the campaign, and that can only mean that Brendan has something up his sleeve in regard to a replacement.

Jota returning is sensational

A return for Jota has also been touted, but that would be to give us more depth and quality on the wings especially with Luis Palma pushing for a move.

There’s been talk of Daizen Maeda taking the striking role, and although he can play there, I think Brendan has plans to replace Kyogo and perhaps use a big chunk if not all of the money we revive for the Japanese striker.

I can only fathom that’s the reason they would even contemplate letting Kyogo go at such a vital period, let’s hope that is indeed the case.

Two from three forwards from last night now won’t play at Villa Park

As things stand it looks like two of Celtic’s three forwards from last night will be missing for the game at Villa Park next midweek with Kyogo being transferred and Daizen Maeda suspended after that harsh red card last night. Not idea but Brendan must have a replacement lined up for Kyogo but not for the game against Aston Villa.

Here’s Brendan’s post match media conference…
