Aston Villa and English Internationalist a major doubt for Celtic clash

Aston Villa will be without Tyrone Mings for this week’s UEFA Champions League clash against Celtic. Unai Emery’s side drew against Graham Potter’s West Ham at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon as Mings left the pitch in tears.

The central defender suffered what appeared to be a significant knee injury during the first half of the Premier League fixture. The 18-capped English Internationalist would’ve almost certainly started when Brendan Rodgers brings the Scottish Champions down to Villa on Wednesday.

This incident is particularly concerning for Mings as the defender had recently returned from a second anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, which had previously sidelined him for over 14 months. The severity of the current injury has not yet been fully assessed, but it raises concerns about another extended period of rehabilitation for the player.
