Luis Palma is attracting interest from Major League Soccer amidst reports the Honduran could leave Celtic in the January transfer window…
Missing from last three match-day squads
The Honduran was not in the squad for Celtic’s thumping 5-0 victory over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership at Paradise on Saturday afternoon. Palma has now been absent in the last three domestic matchday squads. He was posted missing for away wins against Hearts and Kilmarnock also.
The 24 year-old winger has made seven appearances across all competitions so far for the Hoops this campaign, with only two being from the starting XI. Contributing very little, Palma has become a bit-part player and his future at Celtic looks on the verge of being over.
With South Korean wide man Yang Hyun-jun overtaking the out-of-favour Honduran, Palma seems to have fallen down the pecking order behind Nicolas Kuhn, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest.
Signing Luis Palma cost Celtic £3m
Signing from Greek side Aris Thessaloniki in the region of £3 million in summer 2023, life in Glasgow started well but seems to have drifted into the oblivion. He starred for Celtic on 35 occasion last season scoring a respectable 10 goals, including two in the Champions League group stages against Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord.
But, with Brendan Rodgers eyeing a winger in the upcoming transfer window, Luis Palma is attracting interest from MLS and within Europe.
Impressing in the most recent international break for his country, Palma scored twice in a 2-0 first leg victory versus Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final.
However, a 4-0 hammering in Mexico City for the second leg meant Palma and his Honduran teammates missed out on a semi-final spot.
Player’s dad hints at imminent Celtic exit
Don Enrique, Luis Palma’s father, recently added fuel to the fire with comments surrounding his son’s future with the Scottish champions. Enrique said, “Luis is with Celtic and he will focus on being there until the end of the year.
He added, “There may be a transfer, but what happens depends on his work.”

Palma has fallen into the bracket, along with a number of other players, that if they want to salvage there careers?
Then there future lies elsewhere?
Unfortunately for themselves, as Rodgers has increased the ability within our team hugely, then players such as Palma and rocki etc etc, haven’t been able to grow in the ability standards, that’s now required?
Still, Palma is a talented player, in his own right, but doesn’t fit the requirements of what Rodgers is looking for from our team any longer imo?
Financially, I can’t see our club losing out upon a deal regarding Palma, so shouldn’t be placed in the flop or waste of money category, as still a far better player than that?
Simply a case of, as this team has grown within its standards, Palma hit his limit and wasn’t able to keep up with the demands required?
Possibly the changes that has been introduced, with the process of the transfer requirements within the club, been installed now?
