Referee team confirmed for Celtic’s trip to Tynecastle

Celtic face Hearts this weekend as domestic football returns. The Scottish Champions make the journey across the M8 to face the Jambos, who have struggled so far this season.

The SFA have confirmed the refereeing appointments with an experienced whistleblower given the nod.

Steven McLean has been given the whistle. McLean will be assisted by Graeme Stewart and Daniel McFarlane.

Meanwhile at Clydesdale House, Greg Aitken is on VAR duties with Gary Hilland assisting.

The 43-year-old has not taken charge of Celtic this season and you have to go back to April for McLean’s last appointment. That afternoon, McLean took charge of Celtic’s 3-0 win over St Mirren.

Celtic were on the end of some poor refereeing decisions in the defeat in Gorgie back in March. Tomoki Iwata was penalised for a handball after Yang was shown a straight red card – both dubious decisions in retrospect.
