Raldo showing his class. His Scotland place is surely now his to lose…
Congratulations to Scotland who gave their chances of staying in group A of the nations league a huge shot in the arm after a thoroughly deserved victory in Poland last night.
John McGinn and Andy Robertson were the heroes
John McGinn and Andy Robertson were the goal heroes, but the entire team and indeed Steve Clarke deserve great credit.
Clarke has turned our fortunes around and we once more look like a decent side capable of competing at this level.
One area that has dramatically improved is the defence, and last night they proved that once more, indeed it took a wonder goal from Poland to breach that defence. It was also the first goal we had conceded in the last three games.
Tony Ralston was excellent
Each and every player in the defence plus the goalkeeper deserves huge credit for keeping out some of European football’s biggest names, and I include our very own Tony Ralston in that.
Raldo has become something of a scapegoat amongst supporters of rival clubs, but he’s put in some terrific performances at this level and deserves as much recognition as any other Scottish player.
Despite not being a regular starter at club level, Tony has done brilliantly on the international scene after a shaky few games and now looks like he fully belongs at this level.
Scotland’s first pick right back
He may have only been starting the past dozen games or so due to injury problems, but due to his performances the right back position is surely now his to lose.
