Adam Idah has been forced to withdraw from Ireland’s National Team ahead of Nations League games against Finland and England. The Celtic striker would have likely been relishing the chance to pull on the Green jersey at Wembley and look to provide an upset against the Euro 2024 Finalists.
In an update on Monday morning, Ireland Football confirmed that the 23-year-old had been ruled out with injury and had to be replaced.

Idah took a sore one to the nose in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Kilmarnock. The centre forward started ahead of Kyogo but found himself covered in blood after a stray elbow caught him in the face. The Celtic medical team spent nearly five minutes trying to stop the bleeding, resulting in a delay to proceedings.
The knock at Rugby Park comes just two weeks after Idah was on the receiving end of a red card challenge from Liam Gordon. Idah left Fir Park in a protective boot and his ankle was swollen as a result of the tackle. However, fortunately, he was cleared to return to the squad for the Premier Sports Cup Semi Final against Aberdeen after missing the win over Dundee.
Idah will be keen to use the time to rehabilitate alongside teammates at Lennoxtown as Celtic gear up for another run of fixtures after the International break. It is probably fair to say that Idah hasn’t hit the heights of the tail end of last year but the big striker has been dependable when called upon.
Brendan will be glad that Idah can take some time to recover, especially given the fact that he received two impact injuries in a fortnight. The club may also have relied upon concussion protocol following the collision with Wright’s elbow, albeit this is unlikely as he was deemed fit to play on. It remains to be seen what the extent of the injury is but it is hopefully a precaution rather than something new.
