Former Manchester United and Celtic midfielder Roy Keane has revealed that a bet after a poor performance from Craig Gordon could’ve hastened his departure from Sunderland. Speaking to The Overlap with Gary Neville, the Irishman showed his faith in Gordon by betting against his attackers.
In the clip, Keano reveals he said that he’d give the players £1k each if they could score beyond the Scotland Internationalist but if he kept them out, they’d have to pay the manager £100 each.
In the clip, Keane suggests that this didn’t help his relationship with the dressing room and might’ve resulted in his departure from the dugout at the Stadium of Light.
Gordon was largely a dependable, quality goalkeeper for Celtic. However,
given his association with Hearts, many people have written off his time at Celtic.
Gordon was a great keeper for us, 👍👍👍👍💚💚💚💚
