Tough cup draw for Celtic FC Women ahead of showdown with the Rangers

Celtic FC Women have been drawn against Glasgow City in the quarter-finals of the Sky Sports Cup, with the big clash set to take place at New Douglas Park on Sunday 10 November…

The Celts saw off Montrose with an emphatic 7-0 victory on Sunday to take their place in the next round of the competition. Saoirse Noonan and Kit Loferski both got braces, with Mathilde Carstens, Celya Barclais and Morgan Cross also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Glasgow City beat Hearts 

Our quarter-final opponents beat Hearts in the capital to secure their spot, with Wilma Forsblom, Samantha van Diemen and an Eilidh Shore own goal spelling defeat for the Jambos. Sade Adamolekun and Jackie Richards pulled two back for the hosts but it proved not to be enough.

Tough draw for Celtic FC Women 

City currently sit second in the SWPL on 21 points. Celtic are in third, albeit with a game in hand, with 19 points to their name having not lost a game so far this season.

theRangers continue to lead the pack but that could all change come Thursday with the first Glasgow derby of the season being played at Broadwood with Champions Celtic FC Women being the visitors.

A victory for either side could be incredibly telling after brilliant starts for both Glasgow sides. Celtic will be looking to edge ahead of theRangers on points before the incredibly exciting Champions League campaign gets underway.

This Glasgow Derby match between theRangers and Celtic is live on Sky Sports on Thursday evening, with coverage getting underway at 5.30pm.
