Footy Headlines posts misleading story…

Footy Headlines made a bit of a stir this week with a headline, one that was somewhat misleading but rather amusing.  And the replies to their post on X is actually funnier than the article!

The site has over 229,000 followers and is usually credible, but today they let standards slip, although in doing so they provide us a very entertaining and amusing little giggle.

‘Glasgow Rangers to switch to Adidas?’

Their headline proclaimed ‘Glasgow Rangers to switch to Adidas?’ You don’t need to click on the story to know it’s absolute nonsense as we all know that the sports giants only work with reputable, reliable and successful clubs like ourselves, and they wouldn’t touch a basket case club like the 12 year old Ibrox hard-up start-ups.

The site reveals the true story

A click onto the site reveals the true story.  Footy Headlines explained in full, saying that ‘Footy Headlines has been told that Adidas has been in talks with the club. However as of now, Footy Headlines has plausible reasons to believe that Adidas won’t be making the Rangers 2025/26 kits.”

This hints at the true story. An approach, a polite listen then a thanks but no thanks issued. We already deal with the finest team in Scotland so we’ve got that covered, thank you very much.

Adidas probably had such a discussion with the club as they do with plenty of clubs, and decided they are not the right fit, and can you blame them?

They most likely don’t fancy the court costs 

They most likely don’t fancy the expense of a court cases that seem to have haunted just about every retail deal that the club Charles Green founded has been involved in. It’s hard to keep up, there’s Mike Ashley, Elite and maybe more.

Adidas only recently made Celtic an elite member of their stable. The Rangers are unreliable, they aren’t reputable, they don’t have a successful record on or off the park and they certainly ain’t elite.
