Celtic appear to be taking a cautious approach with Cameron Carter-Vickers. The USA Internationalist was pictured in training at Celtic Park on Tuesday before the team jetted out to Italy for Wednesday’s UCL clash.

It had been hoped that Carter-Vickers would have been fit and firing to return to the Starting XI against Atalanta. However, Mail Online’s Stephen McGowan is reporting that CCV didn’t travel with the team.

Auston Trusty and Liam Scales have been the pairing of choice over the last couple of weeks given Carter-Vickers has been unavailable. Trusty struggled on the other side against Aberdeen and the pair shipped seven against Dortmund. It will be a real cause of concern to see the pair lining up together; however, it looks like Brendan is taking the short term pain for long term gain approach with CCV.

The manager explained that he had to manage the injury and you would imagine that he will be viewing the game against Atalanta as being a high intensity game that could jeopardise that recovery.
