Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he is hopeful that Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor will be avaliable for selection after the International Break. The duo were ruled out of Celtic’s trip to Dingwall, which the Celts won 2-1.
Speaking before the game, Rodgers issued a timeline for the defensive duo’s return to action, indicating that it will likely be in time for the return to domestic football.
“We’re hoping Cam will be ready for after the international break, and Greg probably won’t be too far after that.
“He (CCV) is working and putting his weight on it, and it’s easing off. It was just time with him and we’re hoping he’ll be nearly there after the break.
“Ali’s fine, he’d come off with a stiff back, but he trained this morning, so he’s okay.”
Carter-Vickers picked up a toe injury in the opening weeks of the season, which had caused him some discomfort and rather than aggravating the injury, Rodgers decided to allow it time to heal. His absence was felt in Dortmund as a dreadful defensive display allowed the hosts to score seven goals. Taylor was forced off with a calf injury over in Germany, which allowed Alex Valle to come into the Starting XI up in the Highlands.
The calf injury to Celtic’s No.3 resulted in the player withdrawing from Scotland’s squad for the games against Croatia and Portugal. Valle will look to capitalise on this and continue his run in the team with Taylor rehabilitating during the break.
