£10 million for Alexandro Bernabei? Someone is having a laugh, Celtic would snap your hand off for half that!

Celtic left back Alexandro Bernabei is doing rather well for himself at SC Internacional in the top flight of Brazilian football.

The Argentine is of course back in South America on loan after having found it difficult to become a permanent fixture in Glasgow under both Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.

Bernabei has scored three goals and registered three assists for his temporary side, and by all accounts he’s looking like a greatly improved player. Despite his good form I don’t see any future for Bernabei at Celtic, and the club will be looking to move him on if the price is right or at least for the best price achievable.

I would say getting back what we paid for the Argentine would be a good deal, which was something in the region of £3.5 million.

However according to reports, Celtic are looking for a whopping £10 million for the left back! I know it’s a bit of a stretch thinking we’ll more than triple our money on a player that is no longer in our plans. That said, when Adam Idah was unwanted and unloved at Norwich, the price that Celtic would be expected to pay for him in the summer was £3m early on in his loan at Celtic.

However due to his success at Celtic – not at Norwich, the Carrow Road club were able to get £9.5m  out of Celtic this summer.  Maybe that’s given Michael Nicholson food for thought as he monitors Bernabei’s success in Brazil?

The reality is that he’d snap your hand off for half of that reported fee.
