Gary Lineker has singled Celtic out for praise in his podcast, The Rest is Football. Speaking to Micah Richards and Alan Shearer, the ex-Barca striker highlighted Celtic’s start to the season.
“I just want to mention Celtic. Have you seen, they won six nil again today, but they’ve played six games, they’ve not conceded yet, you know?
“20 goals for, none against. And you say, well, they’re probably running away with it but Aberdeen won again and they’re now six wins from six.”
To be fair to Lineker, he has correctly identified that Aberdeen have also enjoyed a strong start to the season – winning all six of their games. The club’s meet at Celtic Park on the 19th October in a game that will likely be an exciting contest.
The reaction from the Match of the Day host has probably been prompted by the viral clip of Adam Idah’s excellent goal in the win at the weekend. Celtic have been playing free flowing football, attacking with intensity but also defending vigorously. Brendan stated after the win at the weekend that he was delighted to see Daizen Maeda tracking back in the 87th minute to help stop a counter attack from the hosts.
