Congratulations to the Celtic for reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stages. It’s a first for Celtic, indeed it’s the first time a Scottish women’s side has reached the group stages of Europe’s premier competition.

Elena Sadiku’s side beat Ukrainian side FK Vorskla Poltava 2-0 on the by night to advance 3-0 aggregate. Goals from Emma Louise Lawton and Shannon McGregor confirmed the Celtic Woman’s side a place at the top table in European football and earned Celtic a massive £484,000 windfall that can be used to develop the women’s team.

It’s been a remarkable few months for Elena Sadiku and her side after they clinched our first ever league title back in May, and now they have done the country proud by reaching the biggest stage of all. It’s got to be applauded. We really are going from strength to strength.
