Deluded to believe Dessers is good enough to play for Celtic

Cyriel Dessers now being hailed as some sort of messiah. The brutal truth is that he’d not even merit a place on Celtic’s bench…

Dessers has had to deal with a lot of flak

Cyriel Dessers has had to deal with a lot of flak since he signed for theRangers last summer, almost entirely from his own club’s supporters it has to be acknowledged.

Now after a few goals this season Dessers is now being heralded as some sort of messiah, remarkably just weeks after gesturing to his own supporters after being the subject of some horrible heckling from the Hampden stands.

It’s a different story now

It’s a different story at the moment with the Nigerian international enjoying hero status amongst a support desperate for something – anything – to cheer. Some are even proclaiming him as the best striker in the country! Although we shouldn’t be too surprised! It’s a bit like Todd Cantwell being hailed as the best midfielder in Britain after they won a dead rubber match at the end of the season before last.

The brutal truth is that not only would Dessers struggle to get into the champions starting line up, he’d be extremely lucky to get a place on the Celtic bench. In fact he’d have next to no chance.

Nowhere good enough to play for Celtic

I’m not saying that through green tinted specs, far from it. I’ve watched him live on a few occasions and have seen what he brings with my own eyes. He can score goals, but so can Lawrence Shankland. Dessers like Shankland is nowhere good enough to play in a side like Celtic.

Think about it, would you have Kyogo or Dessers in your starting line up? Or would you place him on the bench at the expense of Adam Idah? No would be the answer without any hesitation.

Deep down theRangers supporters know the same. They just won’t admit it. Dessers isn’t alone though as there’s not one single play in theRangers side that currently would earn a place in this Celtic team…
