Chris Sutton sparks a debate, Kyogo for me starts in Dortmund

Kyogo for me starts in Dortmund…

Chris Sutton sparked a bit of discussion amongst the Celtic supporters after saying he believes that Brendan Rodgers might opt to start Adam Idah ahead of Kyogo in Tuesday’s clash against Borussia Dortmund.

Chris gave his opinion through his weekly newspaper column and outlined his thoughts on why he thinks the Celtic manager might have an ace up his sleeve by choosing to start the Irish international against the Bundesliga side.

Kyogo’s a big game player

For me that is highly unlikely. Kyogo as we know is a big game player and we will need his energy and enthusiasm as well as his eye for goal if we are to get a positive result in Germany.

We witnessed that last season on the big stage with Kyogo putting in decent performances and scoring against the likes of Atletico Madrid and Lazio.

Adam is a good player and holds the ball up well, and can score, but for me Kyogo brings so much more to the big stage. I’m not writing Adam off but he’s still learning at this level and his time will come.

But for me Kyogo has got to start if we have any hopes of causing an upset.

  1. Would agree also, kyogo starts hopefully in dortmund?
A feature of our play this season, is the speed of our play in transition?
Hopefully that remains intact for ourselves in dortmund, with the speed our front 3 provides ourselves?
Possibly idah would be a better choice if we were trying to play more of a containing game, that was on show in last season CL away matches?
Just don’t believe Rodgers will take such an approach this season imo?
Idah still provides ourselves a great outlet, but potentially better suited later within a match, especially as a totally different option for CBs to contend with?
But for Rodgers, having both kyogo and idah available to himself, also allows for a different tactical approach he can introduce into the team?
Still think kyogo would be the better option, even if we aren’t expecting to dominant possession as we have become so use to, so far this season imo?
