CCV is so vital to our team. As he’s carrying a knock Brendan is right to rest him for tomorrow’s trip to Perth. Short term pain for long term gain…
Cameron Carter Vickers has looked a bit off in these past few games, and has clearly been struggling with his toe injury.
Commanding presence
His usual commanding presence has still been evident, but you can just sense he’s not one hundred percent fit, and Brendan Rodgers confirmed this afternoon that it’s time to give him rest so that he can fully recover.
So CCV will sit out tomorrow evening’s trip to Perth to take on St Johnstone, especially with a trip to Dortmund pending on Tuesday night and Celtic’s Big Strong Man is more likely to make that one by having his feet up watching the game on the television rather than playing at McDiarmid Park.
McDiarmid Park then the Westfalenstadion
We should have more than enough at the back to compete with the Perthshire Saints, but going to the Westfalenstadion without our Big Strong Man would be a bitter blow.
Liam Scales has been superb since the start of the season and will be a major asset to us for games against the likes of Dortmund, but it can’t be denied that he is much more efficient beside the rock that is Cameron Carter Vickers.
Getting a result is not an impossibility
Celtic getting a result in Dortmund is a tough ask but not an impossibility. Our outside chances improve if CCV is fit and able to play. If not we go without him and will give it everything we’ve got. Before that though the three points in Perth are an absolute necessity.
🍀 “He’s been playing with it for a little while, but we’ve got to try and manage it now…”
