Brendan confirms Champions League squad with 2023 signing missing

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has named his squad for the forthcoming UEFA Champions League. Europe’s premier club competition takes a revamped look with Celtic playing four home and four away games, against eight different opponents.

Celtic are able to name a squad of 25 as they have 8 homegrown players registered.

Goalkeepers

Kasper Schmeichel, Vini Sinisalo and Scott Bain.

Defenders

Anthony Ralston, Greg Taylor, Auston Trusty, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alex Valle, Liam Scales, Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki.

Midfielders

Callum McGregor, Arne Engels, Reo Hatate, Luke McCowan, Paulo Bernardo, Nicolas Kühn, James Forrest, Yang, Luis Palma, Kyogo.

Attackers

Adam Idah, Adam Montgomery and Daizen Maeda.

There are no real shock omissions, only the listing of Celtic’s wingers and talisman as a midfielder.

Holm will look to take show to the manager that he is able to compete at a club of this size. The talented Norwegian has been called out by the manager for his application with Brendan suggesting that he wants more from the player.

Curiously, the two players that were sent off in the game against Feyenoord last season won’t be near the squad this season. Gustaf Lagerbielke is away on loan with Twente while Holm is out the first team picture at present. Celtic were fairly comfortable in the game until the two yellows for Lagerbielke and tried to stabilise when Holm was shown red.
