The Cardinal Sin – Big Phil brings up 2012’s painful memories

Big Phil bringing up painful memories…

Philippe Clement was talking in his press conference just yesterday about the importance of finances in football, and he committed the cardinal sin.

No, he wasn’t drinking from a green cup, nor did he bless himself, so what did he do? Well he brought up the painful events of 2012.

He didn’t actually say the banned word of ‘liquidation’ and go into the gory details, his feet wouldn’t have touched the ground as the media would have dragged him immediately out, but his words “The finances are really important in football, and I think this club knows this very well after what happened 12 years ago” would have sent a chill down the spine of the media and theRangers supporters. Ouch!

It’s a very touchy subject and Phil will surely have been told off by his bosses for daring to speak of such events. It’s well known that his club are of course the tribute act created in memory of the old club which perished in 2012.

It’s certainly not something they or the media like to talk about. We all know Rangers 1872 RIP ceased to exist and that a new club were formed claiming to be them, a club that had to start out in the lower reaches of Scottish football. The dogs in the street know it, but for some reason they don’t like to be reminded.

Phil’s slip of the tongue might just have brought back some of those painful memories.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
