Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been sacked by Rapid Bucharest after just six games in charge. The Irishman was announced as the new manager of the Romanian side after a dismal campaign last year on a two-year deal; however, he has been dismissed after just weeks in the job.
Despite being winless in their opening six fixtures, Lennon and his team had only lost one game. The 53-year-old has had stints at Bolton and Hibs either side of his managerial spells at Celtic before moving to Cyprus with Omonia Nicosia, where he won the Cyprus Cup.
Lennon assisted Celtic by taking Benjamin Siegrist off the books earlier this summer but the Swiss keeper will now prepare for life in Bucharest after Lennon. Hopefully, we see Lennon back in management soon.
Lennon has endured a difficult period of late, having to return to Ireland after his mother Ursula passed away. The ex-Celtic captain will no doubt have backed himself to turn things around in Romania but given the shock bereavement, he may be keen to get back closer to home.
