After submitting a bid worth over £25m yesterday, the O’Riley saga may be coming to a swift end.

For months, there has been speculation over if the English born Denmark international midfielder would choose to move to another club. Brendan Rodgers has clearly indicated how much he would love for him to stay, but with a lot of interest from around Europe, there was always a chance that the midfielder would opt for a move away from Glasgow.

Brighton’s offer will meet or exceed the asking price

That would only happen if Celtic’s valuation, which is at least £25m, is met, a fact that the Serie A side Atalanta failed to grasp with the Europa Cup holders making FIVE bids for O’Riley with the highest still around £1.5m below the asking price.

Sources have now reportedly told Football Insider that the Premier League outfit believe they can finalise a deal for O’Riley in the next 24 hours.

Atalanta had five failed bids for O’Riley

It was alleged that Atalanta were set to make a new offer for the Celtic star but it appears that they have been put off by Brighton’s formal approach and bid which meets or exceeds the asking price threshold.  Negotiations are ongoing but are likely to be concluded shortly with the transfer proceeding.

In his three competitive appearances for the Celts so far this season, he has performed brilliantly and even has one assist across the minutes that he has played. There could yet be another unexpected twist in this story so we’ll keep you updated.

Could Celtic raid Norwich again?
