Best £440,000 Liverpool ever spent

Dalglish enjoyed a remarkable 21-year playing career, representing both clubs and collecting numerous domestic and European trophies. During his eight years at Celtic, he secured four league titles, four Scottish Cups, and a League Cup before making a record-breaking move to Liverpool in 1977 for £440,000.

At Liverpool, Dalglish solidified his legendary status over 13 years, winning six league titles, an FA Cup, and four League Cups. His influence was especially felt on the European stage, where he played a key role in Liverpool’s three European Cup victories and a European Super Cup win.

King Kenny’s success extended beyond his playing days as he managed both Celtic (very briefly) and Liverpool, as well as Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers. Notably, he led Blackburn to their first and only Premier League title in 1994.

To celebrate Dalglish’s extraordinary life and career, Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia, known for his Academy Award-winning documentary Amy about Amy Winehouse, will helm a new film titled King Kenny.

The documentary was announced at the Prime Video Presents showcase event in London, where Dalglish was joined by Prime Video UK Managing Director Chris Bird and presenter Gabby Logan, as reported by Advanced Television.
