Champions League: Apathy much worse than anger for these Hampden supporters

Dynamo Kyiv ended theRangers Champions League hopes last night with a 2-0 win at Hampden Park.

The Ukrainian side will now play RB Salzburg in the play-off round for a place in the Group stages.  It was not all bad news for Scottish clubs in the Champions League last night as Celtic were confirmed as a pot 3 side…

Returning to the events at a three quarters full Hampden, we thought we’d have a look at how theRangers supporters are seeing this season now after crashing out of the Champions League in their first qualifier.  The red card was harsh but that seems to happen to other clubs too, Celtic got three in last season’s group stages did we not?

A major concern will be the injury list mounting this early in the season, especially as Clement will not be getting that £40m Champions League cash to spent in the summer window.

Putting the anger about the referee to one side, we have tried to ascertain the mood within the Hampden support as anger is replaced by apathy…

Apathy is much worse than anger…

‘The only place I’m seeing rage and anger is on here (Follow Follow). Leaving that game I could hear a pin drop. We’ve created apathy where we partly ( mostly ) expect to fail. We are chock full of barely average players on large wages. We’ve already started our long term injury list four games in. Hampden is utterly horrendous for atmosphere.

And finally this all lies at an incompetent board.  Anyone that doesn’t see this season will be an utter train wreck needs sectioned. Meanwhile I’m now conditioned to shrug my shoulders as no one running the club seems to care.’

An apathy has set in…

‘The worst thing about tonight is that I’m not really that upset about it, a bit p*ssed off, maybe. Not so long ago this kind of result would have resulted in a sleepless night and feeling p*ssed off with everyone.

Now an apathy has set in and I’m so used to these inept performances that it’s has no real effect on me. Surely I’m not the only one who feels like this. I write this as a supporter for over 50 years who has seen all kinds of Rangers teams, good and bad.’

Riddled right through the club and support

‘An acceptance is riddled right through the club and support. It’s unacceptable.

And by the way, anyone thinking we are going to the midden and getting anything needs to be taken away and having a strong word in your ear, or shot in the face.

We are soo poor, and it’s hurtful to say it after a positive first half. The lack of quality is abundantly clear.’

Tav was honking

‘Not intentionally singling anyone out as there were a few that were dire tonight, but Tav was honking, got skinned every single time. We need a change at right back.’

body language of the players is horrible

‘The body language of the players is horrible. No hunger, desire or competitive mindset. We go into a must win game with a LB at LW and out of form McAusland on the other. McAusland did not look interested. In the first half our right side was so open to attack.

I’m not sure I can watch Tav get beaten again. He must have got skinned 7-8 times again tonight.’

Meanwhile Celtic bank £40 million

‘It will be a carbon copy of previous campaigns in the Europa league, we will probably qualify for the last 16 … Playing Thursday/Sunday is a huge disadvantage ….meanwhile Celtic bank £40 million for getting pumped every game, but they will have no European football after Xmas and therefore be fresher, getting points on the board before we play…’

Clement’s contract extension is baffling

‘The more I watch this Rangers team under clement the more the contract extension is baffling to me.’

  1. O watched the highlights of the Killie v St Johnstone game last weekend.
If Levein sets his team up to attack the hun back four the pace Saints have in the forward areas will rip them to shreds.
