Celtic’s Champions League opponents thrashed 4-0

Celtic discovered their UEFA Champions League opponents last night during the draw in Monaco. The Scottish Champions were drawn against Europa League winners Atalanta as one of their four away fixtures.

Atalanta, who were rebuffed in their attempts to sign Matt O’Riley by Celtic, suffered a thrashing at the hands of Inter Milan.

Inter went ahead after just 3 mins when Thuram’s low cross deflected off Atalanta’s Berat Djimsiti into the own net. With just ten minutes on the clock, Nicolo Barella doubled the lead with a stunning volley from the edge of the box. Thuram scored twice before the hour mark, capitalising on mistakes from the defence to slam the ball goalwards.

Celtic will discover on Saturday when they will come up against Atalanta but they will hope that they can follow the lead of Inter and put them to the sword.
