Celtic turn to Sanches after breakdown on Bogusz deal

Celtic have turned their attentions to Alvyn Sanches from Lausanne-Sport after a breakdown in negotiations to sign Mateusz Bogusz. The Scottish Champions have decided against pursuing a deal for the Polish midfielder after failing to progress in talks with MLS side LAFC.

Celtic tabled a formal offer for the player on Tuesday but reports indicated that a deal was not forthcoming and Brendan Rodgers’ side were interested in pursuing other targets. Sanches has emerged as a likely candidate with the club keen to get two midfielders in to fill the Matt O’Riley-shaped void in the squad. Football Scotland are reporting that Celtic want Sanches in a deal worth £4m and they see him as a midfield contender with Paulo Bernardo.

Arne Engels remains the subject of interest from Celtic, who launched a £10m bid late on Wednesday. The Belgian is keen on the move and it remains to be seen whether this fee will be enough to persuade Augsburg to sell the 20-year-old.

Celtic signed Alex Valle on a season-long loan from FC Barcelona as Brendan finally gets a left-back to compete with Greg Taylor. The 20-year-old is highly rated at Barca and he will look to use the opportunity at Celtic to continue his exciting development, which could even result in a permanent move to Paradise.
