Celtic target Scott McKenna in talks with English side

Celtic transfer target Scott McKenna has held transfer talks with Hull City. The left-sided central defender is available under freedom of contract but has a number of teams interested in his signature.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, Hull have held talks with the player over a deal but recognise that it may be difficult.

Celtic have previously been said to be interested in a deal but the report states that Premiership rivals Rangers are also interested in the 37-capped defender.

McKenna is available on a free transfer after being released by Nottingham Forest at the end of ladt season. It was clear that the player would be moving on after which he spent the second half of last season on loan with Copenhagen.

Brendan Rodgers rates McKenna highly from his first spell in Scotland and he might see him as an upgrade on Liam Scales.

  1. Somehow doubt it now at this stage imo?
If ourselves and mckenna were serious about a deal, wouldn’t that have tried to have been done before the USA tour?
Fail to see how Hull could put together a better financial package for mckenna, especially if we were serious about wanting him to join ourselves imo?
Rodgers is supposedly, identified his targets?
If mckenna was actually a target?
Wouldn’t some form of talks taken place by now?
As it hasn’t happened, can only conclude that mckenna was never a real target for Rodgers in the 1st instance imo?
