Celtic reject £10m offer for Reo Hatate as Brendan looks to strengthen

Celtic have rejected a £10m offer for Reo Hatate. Brendan Rodgers lost star midfielder Matt O’Riley earlier in the week and will not entertain losing the 26-year-old as he looks to add quality and not lose it.

The Daily Mail’s Stephen McGowan is reporting that Celtic received a £10m bid from a French side but stated that Hatate was not avaliable for transfer.

Hatate has been a key performer since joining Celtic in January 2022, becoming a key figure under Ange Postecoglou and then Brendan Rodgers. Last season was somewhat stop-start for Reo and he has been electric since returning and he will think that he can follow O’Riley’s path with a season under Rodgers.

The report continues, stating that Hatate is in no rush to leave Celtic and has been told that he is not for sale by the club. Brendan will want to add Arne Engels from Augsburg in the coming days, having made a £10m bid on Wednesday afternoon. The club also have ramped up their interest in the £4m-rated Alvyn Sanches from Lausanne-Sport. Rodgers wanted two players in if Matt O’Riley departed and these two could represent good business for the club.
