Celtic agree fee for Adam Idah, haggling on-going with Liverpool for Owen Beck

Celtic agree a fee with Norwich for the transfer of Adam Idah, with the deal being subject to the striker passing his medical. Owen Beck could also be incoming if a fee can be agreed with Liverpool…

The Adam Idah transfer soap opera of the summer looks to a have finally come to a conclusion.  Numerous reports suggest that the Canaries have accepted a deal from Celtic for the Republic of Ireland international.

Various figures are being quoted

The fee is reportedly in the £7- £8 million range with some reports suggesting it could reach £9.5 million when add ons are taken into consideration, making Adam potentially our most expensive ever signing, exceeding the £9 million we splashed out for Odsonne Edouard in 2018.

That represents a remarkable turnaround when you consider the flak that the club received when the player joined Celtic on loan back in late January.

Adam Idah proved his doubters wrong

Adam Idah proved his doubters wrong and was a big reason for our league and Scottish cup double success. He didn’t just score goals, he scored crucial goals.  And none more important than the winner at Hampden against theRangers in the 90th minute of the Scottish Cup.

The club has taken their time in the way that they’ve dragged out this whole sorry saga.  However they’ve at long last got our man.  Michael Nicholson has finally parted with some serious cash to provide Brendan Rodgers with the quality he desires.

Celtic supporters will be delighted

The arrival of Adam Idah will be greeted with joy by Celtic supporters who are desperate for new signings. Let’s hope Adam isn’t the last in this window but the first in a late flurry.

Celtic are negotiating with Liverpool for Owen Beck

Celtic has also been linked with Liverpool Academy graduate Owen Beck who was on loan at Dundee last season. Apparently Celtic bid for the left-back in January but any move was frustrated when he played seven minutes in a match against Bournemouth after being recalled at Christmas amid an injury crisis at Liverpool.

Liverpool are looking for a fee of £3m which Celtic apparently have not reached.  Here we go again…
