Welcome to Celtic Alex Valle. Let’s hope he’s the first of a few new faces…
The transfer windows is now into its final few days meaning football clubs all over Europe will be working around the clock frantically trying to get some last minute business done. Our club is certainly one of them and let’s hope that there are at least another three signings to be announced before 11pm on Friday evening.
This morning Celtic welcomed young Spanish left back Alex Valle to the club. The highly rated Spanish youth international has signed on a one year loan deal from Barcelona and we all wish him well for the challenge ahead.
Providing competition for Greg Taylor
Alex will not be here to make up the numbers due to the loan fee and high salary the club have invested in him. He will be here to challenge Greg Taylor, make no mistake. I sense big things from this boy.
Let’s hope the arrival of the 20 year-old Barca starlet is not our last piece of business in these remaining last few days of the transfer window.
With the likes of Arne Engles, Mateusz Bogusz and Auston Trusty being hotly pursued let’s hope we get them in the door and we’re not left hearing the usual ‘we tried our best’ excuse.
Brendan Rodgers opted for Alex Valle, rather than Owen Beck
Brendan Rodgers opted for Alex Valle, rather than Owen Beck from Liverpool, who would have cost around £3m. Beck has now gone out on loan to Blackburn Rovers and we may end up hearing his name linked to Celtic next summer.
Rodgers for now is well pleased to bring Alex Valle to the club. Speaking to the official Celtic website, Brendan said:
“We’re delighted to have landed Álex on this season-long loan as we continue to strengthen the squad for the season ahead. His footballing style will complement our attacking play as well as giving us more options in our backline.
Brought up in a real high-quality footballing environment
“Álex has been brought up in a real high-quality footballing environment learning all the good habits and skills associated with any top team. He is a player with some tremendous attributes. He has performed really well for Levante last season, been around Barcelona’s first team this year already and he is a welcome and quality addition to our squad.”
