Adam Idah speaking at Celtic Park this afternoon to the Celtic fan media, here’s what happened…
And the Irishman, who this week became Celtic’s record signing, spoke about the unbelievable welcome he received from the Celtic support, highlighting the send off that the Celtic support gave to the team back in early April the day before the Glasgow Derby at Ibrox – back then it was still a functioning football stadium.
“The fans are huge, they’re the best fans I’ve ever seen in my career. There are not many clubs that would do that. People here might think it’s normal, but it’s not.
“The connection that they have with the players, the support they show, they turn up in big numbers and you’re not going to get that at many clubs.
“It was a factor coming back, having got that connection with the fans, they’ve been brilliant. I want to carry on doing my best for them.”
Ibrox send-off
Celtic had no supporters there that day but the players knew that the backing they had around the world was sensational as Idah scored Celtic’s third on the day in what turned out to be a 3-3 victory for theRangers.
Had they won that day Celtic would have needed favours from elsewhere and the momentum would have been theirs. So Idah’s goal was huge.
Adam Idah, recalling the 25 May
The Celtic fans were there on 25 May at Hampden, Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo came off the bench and with the Scottish Cup Final still goalless after 90 minutes, this happened…
