“Such an unbelievable club, Celtic,” Ange Postecoglou

The Spurs boss has ruled himself out of being the successor to Gareth Southgate after he quit his job as England manager after the 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 Final in Berlin last Sunday evening.

England Manager – Ange has ruled himself out

It’s a measure of the impact that the former Celtic manager has made in his first season at Spurs, that he was one of the first names on everyone’s lips south of the border, to replace Southgate. But that’s not for Ange who has already done his time as an international manager with the Socceroos.

However, being back in Scotland, he was happy to reminisce about his wonderful experience managing Celtic, where he won two Scottish Premiership titles, two league cups and a Scottish Cup, which was won on his last game managing the club in early June 2023.

Ange talking fondly about his time at Celtic

“Yeah, I loved my time here,” Ange said, as reported by Daily Record. “Such an unbelievable club, Celtic.

“The support I had from day one was unbelievable, but I enjoyed my whole time up here. I did, my family did, it was a great two years and I’ll always look back with great fondness.

“Obviously we had great success which helps but aside from that, just the life we lived and the people we met, it will always be a special time in our lives.”

  1. There are many a time within football, that the right person at the right time can totally transform a club?
We have had many of the likes between managers and players throughout our history, with many more to come in the future for ourselves, due to the status of our club?
Will always claim that the board got very lucky regarding Ange, as it was a very tense time within the club at the time, with plenty of rumblings of a volcano ready to erupt from within?
Yet Ange totally changed the whole demeanor within our club in an amazing short space of time?
The rumblings regarding the board have lessened somewhat, if not totally gone away, as the trust factor within them hasn’t totally returned for so many, and doubt it will anytime soon either?
Regardless, Ange never totally completed what he started either imo?
We had 2 great seasons of successful attacking football which was a joy to watch?
Yet we will never know weather such a high risk factor of football was going to be successful for ourselves at CL level?
I know that he had 1 season in the competition, but like himself, most of our team have never faced the higher quality either?
Always felt that a 3rd season from Ange would have determined weather he was a top class manager or more of a transformation manager for a club?
Even going to spurs is a similar position to ourselves when Ange walked out on ourselves, into the spurs job?
Yet he is entering the 2nd season now and still unsure weather it will remain as successful for himself, especially as Ange doesn’t seem to do the tactical side of the game so much, moreso sticking with the same game plan that’s successful for getting supporters on side very quickly, but not so sure there is a plan B in operation either?
Ange thought on a plan B is doing plan A better?
Don’t know how long such an approach will be successful in the longer term, where you can become so predictable in an approach to every game?
We never actually found out ourselves, but possibly will during next season at spurs imo?
Regardless will always remain very greatful to what Ange did do for our club, even if there remains a touch of disappointment of not totally completing what I believe his intentions were within the CL campaigns?
