Reo didn’t have Russia on his mind when he talked about playing in a bigger league

Hot on the heels of Atalanta’s bid for Matt O’Riley it was revealed today that the club have turned down an approach for Reo Hatate from an unnamed Russian side.

Reo this week spoke of his desire to play at a higher level, but I don’t think he was thinking off Russia, and if he did entertain the thought of heading to Putin’s controversial state, it would be for one thing and one thing only, and that would be money.

Losing Reo would be as big a blow as losing Matt

The club quite rightly kicked out the offer and won’t want to sell yet another vital player with the departure of Matt O’Riley imminent this summer.

Reo just recently signed a new long term deal and the club hold all the cards regarding the situation.

Losing Reo would be as big a blow as losing Matt, as it would prove impossible to replace both with a similar calibre of player.

Of course if we were to receive a bid that we couldn’t afford to turn down then things might be different, but for now the club have done the right thing in booting the offer into touch.

If we are going to find ourselves in a position of losing a big player every summer, then so be it imo?
Would show that we are continuing to be doing things right?
Hatate could well be in the market for a big move next summer, but will have to show his worth next season, especially as last season halted his progress somewhat with the amount of injuries he had to contend with?
But beforehand, we still need to be aiming for having to deal with less transfer activities that nearly every summer is throwing up for ourselves?
Losing big players is nothing new to ourselves as a club, and becoming a regular occurrence for ourselves, but that’s just the price of success unfortunately?
I know our supporters will never get tired of gaining Scottish success, but wouldn’t say the same applies to many of our foreign players, when more challenges could appeal to themselves more so imo?
Yet we can change such an approach by gaining far more success at CL level?
To potentially keep hold of talents that players like Hatate, and others, possess, then as a club, we need to be aiming in that direction from now on imo?
Would think that is the potential future outlook for Rodgers in the making?
Good sign for ourselves that Hatate remains ambitious within his career, and the type of players we still require within our club, despite the Scottish success gained for ourselves?
Players can outgrow our wage budget fairly quickly if a successful player with ourselves and able to showcase their talents especially at CL level imo?
Yet we stand a far better chance of ourselves keeping hold of players with the talents of Hatate if the club can match there ambitions, along with reducing the amount of wasted wages currently within our wage budget?
Would like to think that both can go someway to been achieved on both counts, by the end of this window for future campaigns?
Then maybe players like Hatate could come to believe that a Celtic career is unrivalled?
