According to various reports from reliable Portuguese outlets, Celtic are a step closer to signing Paulo Bernardo on a permanent deal.
The Portuguese midfielder spent last season on loan at Celtic and while not playing as much as he’d like, he impressed all the same. It was clear for all to see that he was a decent player.
He showed he could handle the big occasion, and looked right at home on the big European nights in the greatest club competition in the world.
He has great potential and signing him would be a signal of our intent going forward. Paulo is the sort of quality we require, and his imminent signing should be seen as a positive move.
Apparently the club have all but agreed on a £4.5 million deal with Benfica and it’s just a matter of reaching an agreement on a sell on clause.
£4.5 million for the Portuguese under 21 skipper? That’s a bargain in anyone’s book, and if such a signing was made by our rivals across the city then the SMSM would be shouting it from the rooftops.
